Questions and Answers

Q: I see you are setting up a second “headquarters” in Montana. Why?
H.P. Butte, Montana

A: In truth, we just found a good buy on an older house in the heart of Red Lodge and are renovating it. We haven’t decided whether to live there permanently, use it to display things brought back from expeditions, or what.

Q: Where are you going next?
C.M. Portland, Oregon

A: Mexico, but only briefly. We need a break from the Montana winter. This will be brief, but relaxing. We’re going to Cabo San Lucas. After that, we don’t know. We’d love to return to Nepal and see the little girls we support, but right now Kathmandu only has electricity two hours a day and life isn’t easy there.

Q: How was Cabo?
P.M. Boise, ID

A: It was great, much nicer than we expected -- and much more expensive. In fact, of all our travels around the world, our resort hotel was the most expensive we’ve ever stayed in. The restaurant was great, but the meals there were the most costly we’ve ever paid. One totaled $250.

Q: How is Don’s book coming along?
Jane, in Casper, WY

A: Well, but slow. The publisher’s top editor is going through it, one line at a time. Our goal is to have this life story of Senator Al Simpson in stores by the end of this year, or in very early 2011.

Q: Where are you going next?
N. Johnson, Denver, CO

A: When I (Don) complete editing on my book in early 2011, we plan a cruise from Miami to Los Angeles, visiting the Cayman Islands, Columbia, the Panama Canal and Mexico along the way.

Q: How is the renovation of “Headquarters II” coming along.
H. Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT

A: Very well. Like all renovations is takes long and costs more than one might imagine, but we are pleased. Most of the work should be completed by the end of the year.
