Logs 2003

The buttons on the left lead to our 2003 logs

Early 2003 found the Expedition exploring south Florida and the keys, and sailing to the Dry Tortugas. Our sailboat Pioneer performed flawlessly.

Following a return to Marathon, Florida for more provisioning and last minute adjustments, we then sailed across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas.

We had a fantastic and memorable two months there, followed by an 880 mile nonstop sail from Nassau to Beaufort, North Carolina. It was a terrific 111 hour trip. You’ll find some great photos in the Bahamas photo gallery.

We then sailed up the Chesapeake to Solomons, Maryland, where we treated Pioneer to a slip for the first time in the 18 months we had lived aboard her. It seemed strange not to be anchoring!

Leaving Pioneer at the dock, we drove to South Dakota for Becky’s sorority reunion, and Don’s high school reunion in Cody -- followed by visits with other family and friends throughout the mountain west.  We returned to the Chesapeake in time to save Pioneer from Hurricane Isabel and prepare her for the coming winter.

We are now in Nepal. Later on: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and SE China.
