Small towns and villages dot the Annapurna Range's steep slopes. Icy peaks surpassing 26,000 feet loom far above the villages, which are suffering the oppression of the Maoist insurgence and Nepali Army fighting. Because of this, trekking in the Annapurna is not recommended.
